Types we build

• Pedestrian gate - timber to match a picket or closeboard run, 900mm-1.1m high, T-hinges, thumb-latch or ring-pull. Or metal, powder-coated, for a secure rear-garden access.
• Driveway single - one leaf spanning the drive, typically 2.4-3.6m wide, hung on gudgeon hinges with a self-close or a manual bolt-catch. Timber, steel-framed timber-clad, or full metal.
• Driveway double - two leaves meeting at a centre drop-bolt, 3.6-5m span combined. Standard for most Ash and Worth driveways where the vehicle entrance is wider.
• Bi-fold - two-part or four-part folding gates for driveways where the swing arc is limited by a wall or a hedge. Slightly more mechanism to maintain but the right answer for a tight entrance.

Timber vs metal

Timber gates match a fence line and look correct on a village frontage. Downside - they need a repaint or restain every three to five years and the hinges take the load of any warping. Metal gates are lower maintenance, higher security, and cost more up front. Steel-framed timber-clad is a middle ground that keeps the look and puts the load on a stiff steel frame.

We don't install automated gate operators as a first-fit - that is a separate discipline with different insurance and BS EN 12453 safety-edge testing. If you want an automated gate, we build the gate and frame to spec and hand it to a qualified operator installer. We will tell you honestly who to call.
